Biography
The Name
Sandy Point is the northern most tip of Block Island, a small island off the coast of Rhode Island. While it appears serene from the surface, Sandy Point is known for its extremely strong currents and shifting sands. The one and a half mile long reef that extends from Sandy Point had been a treacherous hazard that mariners in the days of sail had to navigate as they transited the passage between the mainland and Block Island, the northern gateway to Long Island Sound. The first light house built on Sandy Point was finished in 1829 but was swept out to sea in just a few years. The second was not visible to ships due to the shifting sands, and the third also succumbed to the sea. The 1867 North Light (which is silhouetted on the Sandy Point Equity logo) is the fourth lighthouse built on Sandy Point and still stands today.
In close analogy to the strong currents and shifting sands the mariners in the days of sail had to navigate through, so is the path of entrepreneurship. Tony's mission is to boldly navigate forward with a sense of passion, purpose, and perseverance.
